ABOUT US
Chance Shelter is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in Surprise, AZ
We specialize in assisting the immediate needs of pets in crisis situations. We are a note an intake facility, we do not assist with stray and abandonment. Chance Shelter works directly through referrals from local partners to assist with pet owners needs. These partnerships help identify pets whose families are displaced or in crisis due to circumstances beyond their control. This includes but is not limited to, seniors, veteran’s, and at risk individuals and families.
Our compassionate volunteers help us continue our much needed programs through outreach events and fundraising efforts. A family in a crisis situation has enough to worry about without the increased stress of how to pay for pet food and supplies, or even basic veterinary care. This vital service supports families through challenging times, relieving them of the fear and uncertainty of having to give up a cherished companion.
Chance Shelter does this at no cost to the pet owner.

accomplishments
*This year we focused on strengthening our community outreach partner relationships through our continued warm referral process.
*Our collaborative partnerships allowed us to better evaluate each referral and ensure families facing crisis receive the support and resources best suited to
their pets needs.
*Arranged veterinary assistance for over 43 pets resulting in over $5,000 in cost savings to community members
*Participated in many Community Outreach events
* Assisted over 80 pets with food and supplies resulting in over $1,100 in pet food provided to community members
*Our volunteers put in countless hours during community outreach, fundraising events, and other tasks associated with our mission. They are priceless!

In Lovin Memory
The loss of our Vice President on September 10, 2024, deeply shaped our year that followed. His leadership and commitment left a lasting impact on Chance Shelter. Throughout 2025 we faced many hard decisions. In honoring his legacy, through necessary and careful evaluation, Chance Shelter has restructured and emerged stronger, more focused, and better positioned to serve our community.
This process has resulted in a meaningful organizational progress and renewed stability

- As we move in to the year ahead, our primary objective for the coming year is unwavering:
- We have created new partnerships with local retail establishments that support our efforts through donating essential pet supplies and encouraging their staff to volunteer at numerous Chance Shelter events.
Our compassionate volunteers continue to put in countless hours working at our Community Outreach events. Through their tireless efforts at our fundraising events, our volunteers not only help generate essential funding, but also serve as compassionate advocates for all pets. - Continued partnerships with the the City of Surprise Resource Center and our many outreach partners assists us in establishing the needs of families with pets in the community.
- Through strategic efforts and dedicated perseverance, we have achieved success in securing smaller, but necessary grants. In addition to these achievements, our proactive approach extends to hosting independent small-scale fundraisers, a practice that consistently yields positive results.
- Our annual gala held each year has emerged as a significant success, generating widespread support and recognition. The invaluable contribution from local businesses, steadfast sponsors, and generous donors plays a pivotal role in propelling us toward our goals. Collectively, these efforts have fortified our financial foundation, moving us forward on our mission to make a meaningful impact in our community.
- Chance Shelter’s well-established programs continue to thrive, and we are proud to introduce new initiatives for the coming year that expand support for the families and pets we serve.
