Chance Shelter provides a vital service to our community, serving as a central resource for various outreach alliances. Our mission for this program is to support organizationssuch as hospital caseworkers, assisted-living facilities, funeral homes, human services, and first responders.
Through a warm referral process, we ensure that these facilities have a reliable resource for pets during crisis situations. In times of crisis, when individuals or families lack the support of family members or friends to care for their pets, Chance Shelter steps in to provide assistance. We understand that a crisis for a person or family is oftenalso a crisis for their beloved pet. By caring for these pets, we enable our alliances tofocus on providing care for the people they serve.
Our short-term fostering program is designed to support pet owners during times of crisis, with the ultimate goal of reuniting them with their furry companions once the crisis has passed. Currently, we can provide fostering for pets for up to 30 days, thanks to ourdedicated network of fosters.
If it is determined that the owner is unable to reunite with the pet and there is no next of kin willing or able to take the pet, at that point the pet will be surrendered to Chance Shelter and we will begin the process of finding a new forever home for the pet.
As we look towards the future, our goal is to expand our facility to offer longer fostering periods, strengthening our ability to support our community, outreach alliances, and the individuals we serve. At Chance Shelter, we are committed to providing compassionate care for pets and peace of mind for their owners during difficult times.
