Jake and Heidi (newfoundlands) came to us in early January through a referral form Animal Care and Control. These two were surrendered to ACO from an elderly couple that were preparing to be moved into an assisted living home and could no longer care for them. Christine B (Chance Shelter Foster) graciously opened her home and fostered these two. Christine spent time reteaching these gentle giants how to walk on a leash, and to become more socially receptive with others. She helped them with their diet and exercise, she did a fantastic job with these two beauties.
Jake and Heidi had many adoption requests. We are happy to say that Jake and Heidi have been adopted by a loving family.
They now call Oregon home and they are living the kind of life they deserve.
Below is a an email sent from the new owner’s daughter in our asking for an update on Jake and Heidi;
Hi Bob!
Thank you so much for reaching out! They are doing great! They have both adjusted so perfectly. Jake now loads in the car all by himself and is happy to do so! They have started eating DOG FOOD! and are enjoying their daily walks with my dad. Heidi has claimed my mom as her person and doesn’t leave the room without her. They’ve made friends with the neighbor kids and have taken quickly to the grand kids as well. My dad talks about his “kids” constantly. Every conversation leads back to them. My parents love to watch them romp and play together. They’ve brought a lot of happiness to the family. We are so grateful the opportunity you gave them and us. Thank you so much for reaching out!
