A blessing for animal can be either of the animal or of the human-animal relationship, and can apply to companion animals or other pets, working or agricultural animals or any other animals which humans depend on or interact with.
There are many Ceremonial blessing of animals throughout the world. Blessing of of animals is a religious activity and occurs broadly across most religions in different forms. Some congregations choose to celebrate this service at other, variable times of the year.
Some people bring their pets to church (as seen with “Red” below), others may be content with just bringing photographs of their pets. There are also some families that have their pets blessed by naming them.
