This sweet reunion was 7 days in the making. To understand the emotions behind this reunion, we go back to the beginning of the story.
This is Bella and her mommy. Bella’s mommy became very ill which required her to spend some time in the hospital. At the time, Bella’s mother was not sure where or how Bella would be cared for and did not know how long she would be away. This was extremely difficult for her as she did not want to lose Bella.
A good friend of Bella’s mom reached out to us here at Chance Shelter and asked if we had a foster available in our Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program. She explained the situation and we were able to line up a foster who was willing to provide Bella a comfortable home until she was able to be reunited with her mommy. Bella’s mother was given our contact information and when she was feeling better she called and checked on Bella. She gave us information on her progress and we reassured her of how Bella was doing.
When Bella’s mom was ready, we set up the reunion. It was such a wonderful and heartfelt experience to see. The love between the two of them was touching. The fact that these two were able to be reunited after a period of time was moving.
This is how our neighbor-to-neighbor program works. It helps pets and their families in times of need with short term care for their pets. This is an uplifting experience for all who are involved.
