Chance Shelter First Annual “Shoe Drive” and fund raiser
From August 1st – October 17th
Chance Shelter held our first annual ” shoe drive”! This was such a great fund raiser. Through the help of our community we were able to gather 34 bags with 25 pair of shoes per bag totaling 850 pairs of shoes. Chance Shelter was paid per pound and then we were able to have the shoes donated to 25 underdeveloped nations and help keep these gently worn shoes out of our landfills and on the feet of others who need the shoes.
Chance Shelter was so thankful for the strong community support. Through the help of Surprise Fire and Medical Crisis Response, All-Star Animal Hospital and Pet Club providing us a drop location, Storage West in Surprise for a place to store the shoes during and other members of the community who came forward with gently used shoe donations, we had a pretty successful shoe drive. With a special thank you to Girl Scout troop #1928 of Surprise for helping us to band and bag the shoes.
Chance Shelter realizes without the help from our community, we would not be able to have such successful fundraisers.
From individuals, to local business owners, who took it upon themselves to gather shoes on their own and bring them to us, we are so very thankful for all of you and your support.
Chance Shelter will continue to to do the “Shoe Drive” fundraisers and we hope that everyone in the community will join in and be a part of such a wonderful fundraiser in the years to come!
